Rue des Bouchers / Butcher street BRUSSELS-CITY in BRUSSELS / BELGIUM description:The (city view) Rue des Bouchers is very famous. You get the
impression to walk in a very long restaurant. All the products of the different
restaurants are displayed very nicely in the hope that you sit down at the terrasses.
I understood that in the meantime, the city of Brussels acted against the fact
that people passing by were called in by the waiters. This seems not be allowed
anymore, with severe punishment (going to closing the restaurant).
Albert: 'Seeing all those stupid guys standing in front of their restaurant,
trying get people in, gives Brussels a bad reputation. This is not a place anymore of
which Brussels is proud, it became the 'shame of Brussels'. Be honest, it's a long
time ago since you visited this place to regard it with sympathy. '
John Jansen: 'We visited Rue des Bouchers and we enjoyed the atmosphere and the
displays of products, (mussells etc.) Regarding the spruikers outside the
restaurants,they were very helpful with their explanations. One establishment offered
us a free serving of marinated mussells when we explained that we never tried
them.The worst part of this street is continual annoyance of beggars who will not
take NO for an answer.'
