Novotel GHENT / BELGIUM description:This modern hotel was constructed between 1985 and 1986 in accordance with the plans of the architects office Arrow , under the orders of Willy Verstraete.
This building was seen as the result of a very succesful try to integrate modern architecture in the ald town centre. This is also tru literally : in the fassade there are still elements of the medieval stonen 'Gruuthuus' as one of the eye-catchers in the entrance hall.
To avoid to give an impression of hugeness, the construction was made so that, with an ingenious way ,this goes about two different buildings.
In the inside several medieval pieces were integrated. The gothic cellar of the stonen 'Heaven' is in use as a bar and receptionhall for parties.
