Saint-Christopher's church CHARLEROI / BELGIUM description:

The origin of this Saint-Christoph'schurch lies in 1667, when the French army which had taken the city made a chapel dedicated to Saint-Louis. Of this chapel, you still find a stone in the porch of the current church. During the 18th century, it was drastically enlarged and dedicated to Saint-Christoph. In 1794, the church suffered heavily from the bombing by the French army, after which a lot had to be rebuilt.

In 1956, drastic changes were done by architect Joseph André.

The crossing carries a dome as crossing tower. Its got a daimeter of 16 metres, and is 48 metres heigh.

Inside, you find a giant mosaic by Jean Ransy made in 1957.

PS. The pictures (look at the composition!) show that Koen De Langhe is a real photographer...
