Saint Donatus church (Sveti Donat) Zadar in ZADAR / CROATIA description:This certainly is one the real highlights in Zadar: the Sveti Donat or Saint Donat's church. It's an important preroman building.
In fact, it's an example of byzantine buidling, dating from the 9th century.
Originally, this church was devoted to the Holy Trinity. During the 15th century, the Holy Trinity was replaced by the bischop Donatus.
The church was built on the Roman Forum, from which a lot of stones were used.
Inside the building, the stark interior has excellent acoustics. It's not used as a church anymore... it's a concert hall.
