Castle Corbčre / FRANCE description:Paper wise, history goes back here to 1241, but the
castle as military fort is about 1 century elder.

Known families are de Llupia (1588), de Villanova-Caramanyen (1666) and
de Boisembert (1680). The latter sure had problems with the village fighting about
the execution of the rights of the Sirs. This ended thanks to the French Revolution.
During the 19th century, the castle belinged to the family de Villars. After the
Second World War the castle was inhabited, and was fallling into ruins. it then also
got plundered entirely.
Only in 1970, a Paris printer, André Thiébaut, restaurated the castle with the
help of the historian and archeologist Pierre Ponsich.
Thiébault would live here with his family for about 20 years. His wife,
Madeleine Thiébaut, was an artist and showed here works here amongst those of other
Catalan artists during many manifestations.
Then the Chambres of Commerce and Industry of Perpignan bought the castle, and
sold it later to an American doctor, who did important restaurations in 1995.
Annum 2012, the castle is for sales again.
