Orange Gate Leeuwarden / Netherlands description:

Gate (door) from 1663 of the Jacobin's church.

In that year the city magistrar decided that the entrance to the church on the eastern side needed more standing. The hardstone porch was crowned by an obelisk carrying a tree and on the fronton there ware the city arms. There was in inner and outer door, connected via a corridor under an arch.

A drastic renovation in 1843 changed the look. In 1948 the fronton gat a new orange tree.
