Cleves Gate - Klever Tor Xanten / Germany description:

The Cleves gate is a city gate from 1393. It is a remainder of the Middle Age city of Xanten. It's a double gate, having defense on both sides of the city moat.

When in 1823 the Mars Gate and in 1825 the Scharn Gate were broken off, in 1843 this was also close to happen to the Cleves gate. However the Cleves gate got saved.
