Saint Hilary's Church Givet / FRANCE description:

Saint-Hilary's church is devoted to Saint Hilary of Poitiers. He was the first official bishop there in the middle of the 4th century.

In 1675, the original church was destroyed by François de Créquy 's troups (for Louis XIV).

Saint Hilary's church was rebuilt soon after in local blue stone. Schip and façade were ready in 1683. The choir, under which a street passas (now called False Gate street), followed between 1685 and 1702.
