Salmonsart castle BRAINE-LE-COMTE / BELGIUM description:

Castle.

Kelly Dalton: 'My family lived at Chateau Salmonsart from 1990-1992. We are American; my father was a military officer stationed at SHAPE in Mons. Living here was like a dream come true-- the house and grounds were so beautiful and we loved learning about all the history of the Chateau and the surrounding area. There is a small memorial nearby to some Belgian soldiers who were killed during WWII. My favorite story from our time living at the chateau has to do with a room upstairs that had huge, locked cabinets. It turned out the cabinets were filled with china--dishes and serving bowls, etc--that belonged to the Belgian royal family. They needed to come get it and Princess Astrid herself came to collect them. My little brother was home from school that day and when Princess Astrid arrived, my brother asked my mother, Where is her crown? because he expected her to look like Cinderella from the Disney movie. I have a heart full of love for Belgium and for Chateau Salmonsart!'

Diana Sagitto Eta Richardson: 'My family lived here in the summer of 1981. I will always treasue the few months we spent in this beautiful, magical home. I long to visit it again. '
