Our-Good-God's tree KORTESSEM / BELGIUM description:You would not say in first view, but this is one of the eldest tree in Belgium. When you take a closer look, you see that in fact, this is only part of a tree, there is only bark at 1 side. With a little more creativity, you see that this must have een an overwhelming, large tree.
In fact, this indeed is a small left-over of a summer oak, which probably is 1300 years old! During the 18th century, the 'bokkerijders' assembled under it...
In the past, the girth was metres 9.58. Storms left their traces, but as by wonder, a part was left. And every year, this still carries leaves and acorns.
July 2009 brought us bad news: the wind (during a thunder storm) was too hard... and Our-Good-God's tree fell and returned to Our Good God... Shame, als Belgium we were not even able to support our eldest monument!
