Saint-Gerulphus' church (in Drongen) DRONGEN in GENT / BELGIUM description:This church was built in 1858-1859 in new baroquan style according the plans of F. Cardon. It is situated a little north of the original church of the abbey, which was demollished in 1859 gesloopt werd.
In the main altar you can see a painting 'The killing of Saint-Gerulfus' from 1866 by the laique brother Quartier.
The side altars are decorated with the paintings by Antoon van den Heuvel: 'Saint-Norbertus receives the ordershabit of the Holy Lady' and 'Vision of Saint-Blasius'.
There is also a little statue in the church from the 12th century: 'Sedes Sapientiae'.
The oak woden reliquary of Saint-Gerulphus from 1864 is also remarquable.
The stained glasses (16 pieces) are the work of the brothers Ganton from 1931.
