Saint-Peter's church Le Vigan / FRANCE description:This Gothic Saint-Peters' church was built since 1304 on the ruins of an elder Romanesque church. The works started well (nave was ready by 1311, north tower in 1335), till 1339 brought the 100 years war (fassade not being finished at that time). In 1490, the consults asked Jean Daniel to take up the works again, and finish the south tower and fassade. By 1509, the church finally was finished, ending with the porch.
The peasure din't last long - because in 1562 a lot of damage was caused by the Protestant armies under Captain Duras.
The church belonged to the abbey of le Vigan.
