There was already a hospital here in the 11th century to care for pilgrims. This was rebuilt during the 13th century and adapted during the 14th.

Now, only ruins and a chapel remain.

Was declared Historic Monument on May 3, 1974.

There is an interesting legend about the creation of the hospital. There was a certain Lady Hélène of Castelnau, who got trapped with her horse in quicksand. She promised that - if she'd manage to escape - the remainder of het life would be devoted to caring for the poor and pilgrims....
