Castle Billy / FRANCE description:The real origin of this castle is not known. Probably it's construction
is situated at the beginning of the 13th century. Certain: in 1213 when the French king
Philippe Auguste attacked the Auvergne there was something.
Very soon, the Billy castle was part of the Boubons camp, opposite to the sirs of the
Auvenrgne who belonged to the English camp. During the 15th and 16t century, the site
got it's heiehts.
In 1576 decline was there. On Februay 2nd that year, the Billy city and castle fell
under the Protestant attacks led by John Casimir, prince from Condé. Afterwoards, the
castle would rather serve as house than as military stronghold. In 179, it was a prison.
After the French Revoluation, the castle was abandonned, a lot was stolen, and
falling into ruins Only on August 28, 1963, the town of Billy would by the
site in order to protect and valuate it as tourist attraction.
