The Woman Jacoba Leeuwarden / Netherlands description:The Lady Jacoba would be one of the most ancient sailing houseboats in the Netherlands.
It is one of the first iron barks. It was built in 1881 at the shipyard of Van der Giesen North in Krimpen aan de IJssel.
A rather turbulent history followed. There were several names: Agnes, Engelina, Regina, Loma and Mary Louise. The ship transported include potatoes, apples, beets, corn, wood, coal, dung and old iron. In 1920 the ship was extended at the yard Millingen tonnage of 72 to 98 tonnage. In that period, there is also a new deckhouse come on. In the February 1924 storm, the ship sank near Newport. In the 2nd world the Lady Jacoba sank once more, after a shell burst.
