Pey Berland Tower Bordeaux / FRANCE description:Carmen: 'Pey-Berland Tower, Bordeaux
Classified in 1862 as Historic Monument, and also listed as
World Heritage by the Unesco. This Pey-Berland Tower is
built in 1440-1500 gothic style.
The tower stands isolated from the cathedral. One must climb 231
stairs to reach the terrace. Decorated on the exterior, and crowned by a
statue showing the Virgin, looking at the Saint Raphaël village
where Pey-Berland was born. Restaurated in 1863, and in 2002-2003, the Pey-Berland tower
remains one of the emblems of the city Bordeaux.'
