Francisco de Goya, born March 30th, 1746 in Fuendetodos, close to Zaragoza. Was student
of the painter José Luzan Martinez. In 1774 Francisco José de Goya becomes painter at
the Spanish Royal Court. Due to an unknown disease, after 1792 he is deaf. In 1795 he
lives a short romance with the Countess of Alba. Due to his handicap, he lives quite
isolated from the world, and he live a moved life, marrying glory to frustration and
illness. 2 famous paintings, La Maja Desnuda and La Maja Vestida, are confiscated by
the Inquisition.
78 year old, he leave Spain behind moving to Bordeaux in France.
in Frankrijk, where he dies on April 16th, 1828. He rests in the Saint-Antonius of
Florida church in Spain.'
