Vasil Lucaciu Statue Satu Mare / Romania description:

Statue for Vasil Lucaciu, who was an important figure amongst the Transsylvian Romanians who wanted Transylvania to become part of Romania. Vasil Lucaciu lived from January 21th 1852 (bron in Water , Szatmár) and died November 29th 1922 in Satu Mare.

Transsylvania hhad become independent in 1848, but in 1867 is was added to again to Austria-Hungaria. After the First World Ward (with Austria-Hungaria in the loosing camp), the country was cut into 2 and several parts were given to their neighbors. In this way, Transsylvania was added to Romania on december 1th, 1918.
