Church of the Archangels Michael and Gabriel Satu Mare / Romania description:

This neobyzantyne. church was built in 1932-1937, as a replacement of church from 1803 that had become too small. The Archangels Michael and Gabriel's church was built according to architect Victor Smigelschi's plans. Building was led by G.P. Liteanu. It is the Romanian Orthodox or Greek-Catholic kathedraal.

The church has a 3-aisled nave. The narthex has a balcony. The central dome has a diametre of 14 m and is 40 m high.

The walls are decorated with wall paintings. The cathedral houses an interesting collection of old Orthodox artefacts, amongstwhich we name 500 year old books in old Roman language and 40 Romanian icons on wood or glass, amongst 17th century icons from the wooden church of Corund and from Oar-Vetiş)....
