Presentation of the Virgin at the Temple Wooden church Barsana / Romania description:This wooden 'Presentation of the Virgin at the Temple' church stands along
7 other wooden churches UNESCO' World Heritage list.
Originally, this churchs was standing in the Monastery of Barsana. In
1717, the Tartars had burned down the village and the monastery. After this, in the
monastery a new church was built (1720). But on Juli 21, 1791, the monastery was closed
down. In 1806, the church was broken off and moved to it's current location in the
village. It's also then that the veranda was added.
This church is seem to be built without any nails. It's kept together via wooden pins
and corners.
Now look well... during my visit a woodpecker (animal) was
knocking against the spire.
