Saint Saturninus' church Moulis-en-Médoc / FRANCE description:

This church is mainly Romanesque style. It's first mentionned in 1268. Classified as Historic Monument since 1846.

The ground plan is a cross, with a during the 100 year war added rossing tower and a western block.

Note the decorations around the windows with round arches, on the dripstone moulding and above the wall of the choir.

Saint-Saturninus was the first Bisshop of Toulouse. He was Greek, coming from Patras . He died in 250, during persecution of the Christians under emperor Decius. Saturuninus was accused for being the cause that the oracle in Jupiter's Temple in Esquirol shut up. He was bound with his feet behind an aggressive bull, and torn of the stairs of the capitol (leading to scull fractures). He was torn like this via the Roman way till the bull street where his body was burried by his maîtresse and his servant.
